About the Artist

I am a wood block print artist and painter. I grew up in Los Angeles, where I developed a fascination for the curved structures of the freeway. Back in LA after 33 years away, I am currently working on a series of woodblock prints, “The West Coast: From Canada to Mexico.”
When I lived in Seattle, I focused on depicting Mount Rainier from many different vantage points inspired by Hokusai and his “36 Views of Mount Fuji.” I created the woodblock series, “36 Views of Mount Rainier,” which were exhibited at Pacific Asia Museum in Summer 2012.
My education is non-traditional. I was mentored by many Artists in Santa Fe New Mexico, where I drew from the figure in the John Sloane Drawing group. While there, I also studied with Bay Area figurative artists ,Wayne Thiebaud, Nathan Oliveira, and Richard Diebenkorn at the Santa Fe Institute of Art. I learned printmaking from Ron Pokrasso of Graphics Workshop and Sheila Coppola of Sidereal Press.
